What could be more rewarding than doing something you love, with someone you love? Taking it one step further, and spreading the love for the joy of others! That is where we are at! We are the mother (Amy) ~ daughter (Olivia) duo of “The Cherry on Top” party planning.
We have a knack for getting absorbed in creative endeavors where we lose track of time but come out with fun pieces for parties and celebrations! We have a blast brainstorming, making mistakes, and then ultimately putting out creative and unique designs that make people stop and notice.

What we have come to understand is that not everyone has the same gifts. We started to understand that we have a gene called “overboard.” We hear it all the time whenever we plan a party and roll out the decorations. We are always surprised, because we are just doing what we know and feel. And then it dawned on us that some people just can not come up with a plan and make it happen because their gifts are different than ours. For us, creativity is a wonderful and fun outlet that knows no limits!
Amy DiFilippo
Amy is an activity director in senior living for over 20 years. During this time she has created many themes, games, spirit weeks, centerpieces, parties, special events, family and public events. She fell easily into the creative side of the role as she was always helping out her family & friends with parties, events, showers, celebrations of lives, and weddings. The “overboard” gene was passed on to Amy from her extremely gifted and creative mother, Ellen. Prior to Amy’s career change to senior living, she worked with toddler to school age children in various settings, concentrating on the creative side of learning.
Olivia Zemanek
Olivia’s love of creativity and free thinking lead her to a successful career in marketing. She has designed not only eye-catching fliers, mailers and posters, but promotes events via social media. On each events team she has been on, she helps design and decorate the venues across the country. She has decorated for New Year’s Eve galas and black tie events. On a personal level she has planned too many bachelorette parties to count, and has decorated for surprise birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers and themed parties. Olivia also is a professional photographer, and has captured significant and joyous moments in people’s lives! Olivia obviously has more than a touch of the “overboard” gene.
